August 2009 -The Virginia Port Authority has chosen the APS Truck Gate OCR system for the Norfolk International Terminals (NIT) facility. APS’ proven Container OCR will be integrated with the new “E-Gate” system, which combines security, checking and remote gate control. Fully implemented, the combined solution will allow automatic processing of trucks and equipment through NIT’s gate complex, enhancing the facility’s productivity and security.

April, 2009 - The solution includes two of APS’ products, a Rail OCR Portal and the patent-pending Rail Tracking System (RTS) with integration into Navis SPARCS. These systems now provide the terminal automatic identification and inventory tracking of railcar-laden shipping containers as they are parked on one of the four on-dock rail tracks.
